If you want to provide the best for your pet, then yearly visits with your pet’s doctor are essential. Most pet owners have the perception that their pet’s annual vaccinations are the main reason for these yearly visits. This could not be further from the truth. Yes, vaccinations are important but keeping your pet health requires so much more.
It all starts with LISTENING TO YOU. During your pet’s annual health check, our doctors will ask you specific questions that will best help us uncover any specific concerns you may be having with your pet’s health.
Physical exams provide so much information. During a standard physical exam, your pet’s doctor will check all major body systems from eyes, ears, dental health, cardiac exam, respiratory exam, abdominal examination, muscular/skeletal exam, etc.
Our doctors are trained to uncover even very subtle differences or changes in your pet’s body that you may never even known existed.
As your pet reaches their senior years, dogs > 7 yrs, and cats > 9 years, it is recommended by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) to have twice a year medical examinations. Why? The reason for this is simple. After a certain age, your pet’s body begins to change faster, and often with the right simple diagnostics and good physical exam, we can head-off any problems before they become major problems.
Before breaking down the recommended guidelines for optimal care, it is important that you first understand the MAH Good, Better, Best Approach to veterinary health care. At MAH, our moral obligation is to provide you with all of your options. That being said, based on your pet’s age and needs, we will provide you with all the options of care, and then you choose which best suits your needs.
